School & Child Health Requirements

The School & Childcare Health Requirements webpage  www.smchealth.org/school-and-childcare-health-requirements summarizes the immunization and health exam requirements for children to attend childcare and schools.   

• The webpage provides useful information about well-child visits, immunizations, tuberculosis risk assessment, and oral health screening. 
• Immunizations are required for childcare, TK/Kindergarten, 7^th Grade, and any new student admission or transfers.  Families should promptly schedule their appointments, as clinic availability fills quickly.   
• For children without health insurance, Health Coverage Options include Medi-Cal that is free or low-cost for children under age 19.  Coverage includes primary care, emergency services, dental, vision and prescriptions.   Also, the clinics listed may be able to provide health exams and immunizations to income-eligible children and teens without health insurance.
